Wildlife and pest removal in Houston

Houston's mild winters mean rodent populations do not thin out the way they do in colder cities. Roof rats, the common attic rat in this area, climb, nest in attics and wall voids, and can pass through a gap about the size of a quarter; AC line chases, cable penetrations and overhanging branches are typical routes in. Bats are a different matter. Texas protects them, and Texas Parks and Wildlife discourages excluding a colony from a building while young bats cannot yet fly, because they would be sealed in. Raccoons, squirrels and opossums tend to move into attics and soffits when storm damage or rotted fascia opens a gap.

What a wildlife removal job involves

Good work follows an order. An inspection finds every entry point and identifies the animal, because the method depends on the species. Rodents are trapped before holes are sealed, and bats leave through one-way devices rather than being caught. Only then are openings closed with durable materials, since sealing first traps animals inside and causes odor. Cleanup comes last: contaminated insulation removed and the area disinfected. Ask which species is involved, how entry points will be closed, what the timing rules mean for your dates, and whether repairs to the damaged area are included.
