Florida Mold Masters of Orlando

Mold in Orlando

Central Florida gives mold what it needs. Orlando averages about 51 inches of rain a year, relative humidity is near 77 percent in August and September, and in summer the sea breezes from both coasts set off thunderstorms on an almost daily cycle. The EPA advises keeping indoor humidity below 60 percent, ideally 30 to 50 percent, and says to dry water-damaged materials within 24 to 48 hours. In a house where the air conditioning cycles off or a roof leaks during storms, that window is easy to miss.

Orlando recorded about 63.5 inches in 2022, the year of Hurricane Ian, well above its usual total, which shows how much extra water a single season can bring.

What a mold remediation job involves

Mold is solved by fixing moisture, then removing contaminated material under containment. Florida law separates the two roles: a licensed mold assessor may not perform remediation on a structure the assessor's company assessed within the last 12 months. So the person who tests should not be the person who sells the cleanup.
